The Mount Soledad National Veterans Memorial is located in La Jolla, California.

The memorial is located at the summit of Mount Soledad in La Jolla, California. The memorial was built in honor of the men and women who have sacrificed their lives for freedom. It also honors those who continue to serve as members of the armed forces or as veterans.

The memorial has become one of America’s favorite places to visit with family and friends. The memorial staff is made up entirely of volunteers that offer tours during weekends, holidays and special events throughout the year (see below). They can tell you about some of the unique stories from plaques which are posted around this site as well as give you tips on what else there is to do nearby!

Its mission is to pay tribute to the men and women who have sacrificed their lives for freedom and to preserve their memory and honor.

Visitors are invited to pay their respects and reflect on the sacrifices made by veterans for our freedom. The Memorial is dedicated to honoring San Diego's military heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defending our country and its allies throughout history.

The memorial was conceived after World War II when the City Council approved construction of a monument on June 11th, 1954.

The 23-foot cross atop the memorial has been in ongoing litigation since 1989.
